INTRODUCTION

旧校舎.jpgSchool at Opening Stage
Kamiisshiki Elementary School was established more than 60 years ago and we have a combined student population of approximately 100. Among schools not only in Edogawa-ku but also in Tokyo, the student population of our school is relatively small compared with those of the other schools. The population may not increase in the near future due to the falling Japanese birthrate during the past two decades.
Although the size of our school has been relatively small owing mainly to this school being a branch school of our mother school, we believe that it has nevertheless consistently maintained a good reputation and high academic standards, and many very promising students having calm minds continue to graduate from our school. We think this is because our school has been supported by enthusiastic and talented teachers who keep pace with the students' progress, and our school has been watched attentively during communications with kind neighboring residents through several events and cooperative activities.
We also cannot forget the support and long term co-operation of our students' parents in the education conducted in the school and their close contact with the teachers. In view of such a good educational tradition and the longstanding efforts of the above-mentioned persons, I wish to describe the school management plan provided below for the second decade of the 21st Century to maintain the good status of our school.
Since English lessons have started for the 5th and 6th graders of Japanese public elementary schools last year, Kamiisshiki Elementary School has decided to launch this English home page for the benefit of our many domestic and foreign friends and to parties wanting to get to know the efforts of our school and to communicate with foreign schools .
